Short Holiday Breaks in UK: Feasible and Beneficial
A short holiday break in the UK for a weekend getaway is not only a feasible option for UK residents but also a highly beneficial option. Think of the weekly recharging you get making you ready for the next week! Even if you can’t take weekend breaks every week, getting away for a weekend or two every three months or so should make you a better person at work, in terms of productivity and sociability.
Most of us have heard the saying that ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ and yet many of us prefer to have working weekends instead of a short break. Studies have indicated that short breaks at work (just standing up and stretching for a few minutes) can increase the quality and quantity of work we do. Weekend getaways after a punishing work week will also prove to have similar benefits.
UK Short Break Destination
There are several great destinations that are ideal for a short break in the UK. Some are great for winter breaks while others are best enjoyed in summer. You can drive along scenic routes, take long hikes along forest trails or relax on the lawns or gardens of a castle letting life-giving Oxygen into your lungs and the greenery sooth your tired mind.
Derbyshire in the English midlands is such a great destination. Much of the Peak District National Park is in that county, and the Pennines chain of hills and mountains and the National Forest are also partly within Derbyshire.
The attractions of Derbyshire include pre-historic monuments such as the Arbor Low henge, medieval castles such as the Peveril Castle built in the 11th century and modern museums like the Crich Tramway Village and the Masson Mills.
After the walks and sightseeing of the day, you can retreat into the comfort of self-catering luxury cottages such as the Paddock House Farm Holiday Cottages (located in the Peak District National Park) to have a quiet beer and great “home-cooked” food.
